Rich get richer – I dont know – since Problogger CTR is lower than mine – so I think it plays even with everyone – its a low CTR system that will not produce what it says it will, but I hope John can prove me wrong

A very good post and in-depth look at it, Ian. I just posted something similar but am still having a positive outlook. However, it does raise the ever present question – does the rich get richer, the poor get poorer?

I’ve read so much about BlogRush over the past few days, that it caused me to start playing about with the related post plugin for wordpress a bit more, and taking it to the multi-blog level.

I figured with the lack of sidebar vision, and banner blindness syndrome, that doing a replica of the related posts concept as a blog link exchange could be kind of fun.

I do agree that the ‘pyramid’ style credit distribution makes things difficult. If I did ever release this wordpress prototype (which I may not, I was just bored lol), it would be 1:1 ratio.

I very much agree with you on this. I’m also trying it out more as an experiment at the moment more than anything else to see what my response will be like, but the model they’ve used to distribute traffic seems rather unfair. Very pyramid scheme-like.
The 1:1, widget load to post displayed seems like enough to me, without adding the referral scheme in there. That’s just for the greedy people and will make the model unsustainable. It sure can be used to generate a lot of hype, but it’s not sustainable in my opinion.

I promote it yes – because I am still testing (which I am unable to view my stats from BR), but after the math I have done and looking a the bigger picture – smaller blogs that get 10 page views a day will not survive with this little widget or get substantial amount of traffic as other blogs say they will. I get enough page views and impressions on my site that it may work for me, I have yet to see my stats to confirm
