You Shut Your Face, Facebook!

So FaceBook told me I don’t belong in the United States, sarcasm. This past weekend I have tried Facebook Social Flyers one more time. I wrote about FaceBook Flyer Pro prior and explained how Facebook took my ad down because of the image I was using.

Well this time I figured a lot of students would be home and be spending time with their families so I decided to go ahead and give it one more try. I went ahead and post about my new website, BadCircuit.com. I used the right grammar and a simple picture, a PC. So this time I was approved and I had it running for 4 days. I think the stats were delayed by 2 days, because I did not see any stats for approximately 2 days.

Once the stats came up I was piss! These are the most pathetic stats I have ever done for a CPC campaign. I had close to 20k impressions and I only managed to get 2 clicks, WTF is that about! I do so much better with Adwords and they convert!

Also, I don’t seem to qualify with their Advertising Terms of Service. I know I am not that great of a writer, but I am writing about 2 small sentences within their ad and still my grammar is horrible? According to Facebook, my English and punctuations are horrible. They pointed me to the section of the TOS.

Terms 4, 5 and 6 are the ones Facebook pointed out to me as to why my other ADs did not make it on Facebook. Again I know I am not that great of a writer, but I mean did I miss a comma somewhere in my text.

Well let us take a look at the best stats ever, sarcasm, which I have managed to accomplish. Below you will see that I did a wonderful 2 clicks to close to 20k impressions for 2 days. I do not know what I may have done in the other days they were running but these are the worst stats ever.

Facebook is not a viable way to do CPC, first of all here is one thing that came to my mind when doing CPC with Facebook.

  1. How do they determine Avg CPC? I am not bidding on keywords or phrases not even any type of demographics.
  2. What images are bad and what are good – I see ads with girls huge tatas just sticking out at me, telling me to click on them – but I cant use the ad below?

So I do not know how Facebook really works with CPC, but so far from 2 tries it sucks both times and they seriously are telling me to get an English book and learn some punctuations or something.

So far Facebook hates me and I hate Facebook, for marketing anyways. I think Facebook is more for just social networking and seeing who had sex with who. I do not think advertising to students makes sense since they do not have money to spend or want to leave the Facebook dashboard. I was promoting an item where they can get something for free, and yet nothing.

Well maybe Facebook does not hate me; maybe I just suck at writing and my skills at writing sucks. maybe my text is not that captivating or my headline did not capture or catch attention?

I do not think Facebook is a great tools to use with CPC, I will stick to Adwords and others. What ever it is I do not think I will be using Facebook for CPC in the future.

The only thing I noticed with your ad is that it says “Piss Off Santa Means no Electronic Goodies”. “Pissing off Santa means no electronic goodies” might have been more acceptable for them. Capitalizing each word is probably something they look down against. Under Term 4 it says that ads may not include unnecessary capitalization which is probably what they considered it to be.

I’ve heard very mixed results about Facebook ads. Some people have gotten the same results as you while others have had $500+ in a short time (before their ads got pulled anyway).

Facebook has also been very arbitrary about pulling ads. Ones you would think would be pulled won’t be but other, seemingly harmless ones, are pulled.

I also suspect the problem you’re having is with your copy, not your graphic.

The not belonging to the USA thing can be quite annoying sometimes. For example here in Germany You can’t get gmail email adresses. Only googlemail adresses due to some dispute. You could use a proxy site, however I didn’t knew that when I signed up. So I have to stick with a googlemail email.

Thanks – I was trying to capture a ’slang’ speech for the young kids on facebook – the only reason I wrote it that way. But Facebook marketing is really hard – myspace was far easier back in the day

wow – 500 in a short time! that is crazy I want to know how they got teenagers to convert, without them wanting to become a vampire :)

hmmm DVD and boxset is good – my first campaign was a workout one and that was taken off immediately – I guess because health is not of importance, if kids are at the gym facebook is no more
