So I recently installed a translate plugin to this blog. All you have to do is click on the translate link above and a drop down will appear showing you the available countries this blog can currently be translated into. This was a to do list prior to the New Year and I finally got it. It makes sense since I do have readers overseas.
The reason I have done this is because my traffic does not just come from the United States, it comes from all over the world. I have posted this prior and I have finally came to the time to find a good plugin to work with my blog.
The plugin I am currently using is the Global Translator Plugin by Davide Pozza. It uses the Google Translation Services or Babel Fish, your choice. There are several features that stuck out which made this plugin my choice over others. Over at Lorelle’s blog she has several other recommendations as well.
- Search Engine Optimized: it uses the permalinks by adding the language code at the beginning of all your URI. For example the english version on www.domain.com/mycategory/mypost will be automatically transformed in www.domain.com/en/mycategory/mypost
- Fast Caching System: a built-in cache is provided in order to reduce the online connections to the translation engines
- Fully configurable layout: you can easily customize the appearance of the translation bar by choosing between a TABLE or DIV layout for the flags bar and by selecting the number of translations to make available to your visitors
Blogging on IanFernando.com is a social marker in which bloggers can interact with me via comments on my blog and learn from other comments as well. Readers can learn from the post and gain an experience on what I am doing, what works for me may work for them as well. My test and case studies are important for users and others to gain the experience to learn and make money online.
Keeping all my readers centralized and the ability for them to read my content is a must for 2008. As my reader base grows I want to make sure the world will be able to view and learn from my blog where ever they may be.

I’d love to know how accurate a translation those engines will do. I bet some of it ends up looking really funny if you read it in other languages lol.

Yes Ian I like Global Translator too and it accounts for 60% of my hits which tells me it is being used. Yes some translations are way off the mark, but I hope the meaning shines through

Hi! That’s very considerate of you to actually go and find ways to reach your other readers. I’m not from the United States but English is like a first language to me. But I know others who have a difficult time understanding English posts. This program is worth checking out. I might find a use for it myself.
