What matters is whether I find the post useful. It could be a one sentence post giving me a tip that is really useful or a link to a great resource. Or it could be a 1000 word post giving details on a particular strategy or commentary. As long as you have the audience's interest in mind, you'll do fine. Personally anything under 2000 words is cool for me. Over that needs a topic I am more interested in. I like to mix things up and vary the length of my posts.
