Guest Post: Desmond Ong is an established site flipper and has been flipping websites for over 3 years. He currently blogs at DesmondBlog.com – where he shares some of the ninja strategies to online marketing and secrets to making money online.
Everyone knows site flipping is a great way to generate MASSIVE cash on the internet and it is extremely newbie-friendly because you don’t need to know how to rank well on Google, or fork out $100 today to pay for your PPC campaign, or even learn about “internet marketing” – well, at least for the starters.
Right now, I am going to teach you how you can start flipping websites right away so you can go out there and start selling sites. In this post, I am going to briefly teach all of you how you can flip startup blogs for a couple of hundred bucks.
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Pick a popular niche.
Step 2: Get yourself a domain name. Two words domain name is great. No hyphen. Must contain at least one keyword.
Step 3: Get yourself a hosting. Your hosting provider must be reliable because you don’t want your site to screw up when you’re listing your site. For me, I always go with Hostgator. Use the coupon code “wordpress” to get $0.01 for the first month. Make sure your hosting has Fantastico so you can install WordPress.
Step 4: Find your blog a great theme. If you have a premium theme, use it. If you don’t and are reluctant to spend any money in themes, go out there and search for a free theme.
Step 5: Get a logo or header (depending on your theme) designed for your blog. Make sure the design is good because design is the main selling points of your blog.
Step 6: Write enough articles to fill the homepage of your blog (about 8 to 10 articles). If you’re lazy or busy, just hire someone to write for you.
Step 7: Now, put everything together to make your blog. Go over to ClickBank and get yourself some ad banners and put them onto your blog to monetize it. Good-looking banners are better than some dull banners.
Step 8: Get some stock images for your blog posts. Find free stock images at www.sxc.hu.
Step 9: Go to web marketplaces like Flippa and Warrior Forum (WSO area) and then list your blog for sale. Write a short listing copy.
Step 10: Wait for response from interested buyers.

I personally don’t see how “flogs” can be considered “site flipping.” Maybe its just me but so many people have abused the idea of flogs that it seems like its just a get-rich-quick-scheme anymore that de-values blogs even more.
Again, thats just me!
its amazing how having your keyword(s) in your domain name will boost your SERP rankings.

I believe that blog which doesn’t have any income can’t be selling in higher price, normally people sells it with “Month income x 12months”. For a $0 earning blog, it can be sold estimately $100. That’s a rough step to build a flipping site.
Regards,
Lee
Lee, you are correct, no one will buy the sites if there is no income, otherwise your domain must be good with good keyword, you must have a good design.
Hi, Just subscribe. Its very interesting and informative blog.
@ Make money online– You are right, If a blog has no income then why should one purchase it.
@business mobiles,
No, people will still buy it if the domain name contains profitable keyword and great contents with good keyword optimization. But the concern is that you can’t sell it in high price since it has no earning.
Regards,
Lee
Yeah I agree with some of the concerns in the comments. When I first read this post, it was kinda of unexpected, as its like the backwards version of site flipping, hehe. It would be cool to see an example of a success flip this way.
Till then,
Jean
I agree that sites are more commonly sold based on their income. Still, if you can put together a nice looking blog with a good domain, it should be worth something to somebody. Personally I’m more of a marketer. So I would rather keep that domain for myself and try to make more than a few hundred bucks from it.
What is the differences between domain name flipping and website flipping.?
Make Money Online@Yes, you absolutely can still make money flipping websites. I did it for a long time until I got to a point where I had several successful websites so that I did not need to do it anymore.
I absolutely agree with the necessity to make all these steps to have a successful sale.But how much time and energy it all needs,just imagine.
Thanks Dude. I really love Your post. Again Thanks for sharing.
All these steps are very good its very worthy to read this post. Thanks for sharing this valuable info.
That’s a pretty strait forward and to the point guide on site flipping. Some good information here, but it will be kinda hard to sell your site for more than 30 – 40 dollars ( if that ) with no profits. Even if you add all the content you said to do, it still won’t entice people to buy it ( unless you get lucky ). Anyhow thanks for the tips.
@bingo live free,
Yea, absolutely! So you flipped the websites and developed it for some times, definitely you will make 10x of the price that you sold before developing.

Lee
Well i never knew that it was so simple.To be honest i did not know what is site flipping.Thanks for informing.That is another way to generate some cash.
Pretty simple and straightforward advice. Kinda reminds me of the type of articles you get on Ezine.com.
I agree with the above comments – selling a blog with no income makes you peanuts. Give us some tips on how to make a site which generates at least $500 per month, so we can sell for $5000.
But the concern is that you canâ??t sell it in high price since it has no earning.
Even if you add all the content you said to do, it still wonâ??t entice people to buy it ( unless you get lucky ). Anyhow thanks for the tips.
Its very informative and useful article. thanks for sharing it. Its very valuable post.
All these steps are very useful. If we follow these in our business we all will be beneficial with these.
@Henry,
Haha Henry thanks for supporting my point. Normally people would buy a blog with better keyword in the domain name, more number of searches for the keyword, and be sure it’s a profitable domain. Normally people would buy such blog with the formula of 12 months x monthly income, if the new blog earns nothing, then it’s difficult to sell it in high price, unless you have really cool domain.
Regards,
Lee
lol Henry I will be looking forward to those tips too, but I think it’s pretty hard to earn 500 a month.
dang, if my site was making $500 a month, i sure as hell wouldnt want to sell it!
-Jack
It’s truly informative for someone who wants to generate massive cash through internet. After reading this article i truly got motivated,because to be honest i never knew what is site flipping. I am looking forward for more such informative articles for new babies like us.
@become a police officer,
I think it depends on how long you’ve been working on the site and get that earning. If you just work one month on that blog to get $500 earning per month, why not I sell it for 12months x $500 = $6000, then I’ll get another domain and work on another domain?
Anyway, this is what I will do and perhaps other people might think different.
Regards,
Lee
These are really very nice steps. Its a very informative article thanks for sharing it.
Ian..These tips have bee proven effective. I did for some of them. I would to give a try the new ones i just got from you. Thanks for sharing here. From Make Quick Cash John
@Make Quick Cash Johh,
This post was wrote by Desmond but not Ian, these tips were teaching you how to build a flipping site but didn’t mention on how to manage it and sell it in higher price. We’re still waiting for the further post from Desmond.

Giving before the receiving. It is necessary to create a flipping site and put into it energy,sums of money,efforts and .Only after that on can think to get money back.
Its like the backwards version of site flipping. It would be cool to see an example of a success flip this way.

you always give us a very nice post.. an easy to follow instructions on how to do one thing..
@Lee and others:
You can sell blogs all day every day just like Ian has outlined. Depending on how you go about it, you can sell for $300+ every time WITHOUT traffic, revenue, or a killer domain. I’ve done it a ton, on a a fairly regular basis (and I’m not the only one).
You guys need to check out the marketplace before you make claims of “not being able to sell for more than $100″ and stuff like that
The trick is to be unique, and not use the same theme (please stop using Revolution Church theme! lol) over and over unless you can customize it (chich I do). Also, there are several ways to add extras to the blogs that increase the value, but don’t really take you much extra time/money.
Cheers
Jay
So I would rather keep that domain for myself and try to make more than a few hundred bucks from it.
@Make Money Online– thanks for reply and make thing much clear.
Hey, peeps.. I got something small to tell. I guess you guys allready know bookmarking on URL’s like digg and reddit can aid in recieving more backlinks, PR, and traffic. Well.. some weeks ago i was invited for a new piece of software that can automatically submit URL’s to the highest authority social bookmarking websites. I have to tell this piece of software is FREAKING GREAT and saved me alot of time allready. It even solves captcha codes! The software publisher just launched the coming soon site@ (bookmarkwiz . com) or you can just search on google for “bookmarkwiz” to get some more info. In IM and SEO the key is to stay ahead of your competition.. and with automation software like this I will dominate other marketers every day! What do you guys think?
I think you either are him, or work for him, and you getting paid to say that =p

Finally someone who can write a good blog ! . This is the kind of information that is useful to those want to increase their SERP’s. I loved your post and will be telling others about it. Subscribing to your RSS feed now. Thanks
@ Jay – have to agree.
Althought the methods will always vary, the principles remain the same – deliver genuine value for money to the customer and you won’t go far wrong with website flipping.

Sam
