New Format for Facebook Sponsored Ads


I just switched to the new Facebook layout. So far its ehh, really not that impressive but I guess it takes getting use to as usual. With the new changes to the layout, I also noticed the ads to be setup differently. Now, I think this will effect CTR, good or bad not too sure yet.

The other interesting part is the ads are all horizontal on personal profiles and not fan pages. The fan page ads are still setup vertically but the Facebook group ads are also setup horizontally. As I browse Facebook more I am only noticing this with just profiles, groups, and events. These are the specifics that I noticed where the ads are horizontal.

As far as just fan pages, it is still vertical. Below is a screenshot of how the ads are now formatted with the new Facebook layout upgrade. If you have upgraded your Facebook account to the new profile you will probably noticed the change and format of the ads.

Here is a screenshot of the new ad format of the your ads. Again this is happening to the new Facebook layout and not the prior layout. This does not affect also the ads which populate on fan pages.

Are these ads affecting your CTR? I wonder if this is just a small change or if these changes will be permanent. I am also curious if they will roll out the change to the fan pages and if so the dimensions of the fan pages will again change.

As far as me liking the new profile layout… I am kind of missing the tabs at the top, overall everything seems to be almost similar just some new features that are added to make you aware of the person you are viewing.

Other than that it’s something I guess I will have to adjust to. As far as ads, it will be interesting to see is there is a CTR fluctuation.

    I just stumbled across your blog.

    I was discussing this with my subscribers as well.

    But IMHO, I think that this is an opportunity to get the body text read more often.

    What I am testing right now is that I put my regular image and 2-3 small red arrows pointing to the right so that it drives attention to the body text.

    I’m also testing a big red triangle rotated to the right like a play button.

    I’m not sure if I can post links on your blog, but if you want I can link to my ad images so you can see what I mean.

    So far, ads that had arrows in the image were converting higher for me.

    @davor awesome! yea I use arrows too on my new ads. but kinda of throws off some ads because I assume they will be seen in the fan pages as well. so my CTRs has been very crappy – my assumption
