The past 2 days I have attended the Underground Online Seminar which is held by Yanik Silver. This is one of my first REAL internet marketing seminars/conferences. I have always attended conferences that delt with traffic and digital media. The reason is because it has to do with what I currently do now.

For example I love Affiliate Summit because it brings networks, advertisers, merchants, affiliates, and traffic sources all together. With the internet marketing space they tell you to make a website and use social media etc.

But at Underground Online Seminar, I learned a lot about JVing, creating business deals, using unknown sites that produces results, and talking to some big ‘gurus’ in the internet marketing space. I met a lot of big people that owns info products and ecourses.

First I went off to visit Pulse 360, they are a CPC and CPA network. I met Daphne at Affiliate Summit West and had lunch with Dan, another member of Pulse 360. We had a really good conversation about their network and how they want to expand. They definitely picked my brain about it.

It was interesting to see that they are starting a network as well, outside their CPC platform. If you have ever seen ads on MSNBC then you will see they are distributed by Pulse 360.

Another cool thing was Ryan was giving away 3 iPads to some lucky winners in the crowd. It wasn’t me thought… sighs… It was a good turn around to a point. The night ended really well with just hanging out with AdHustler, Cousin Vinnie, Michael P and others. The night turn out real well.

I hanged out with my cousin and my little cousin while I was there. Definitely love my family. I enjoyed just relaxing and chillin with them. I did take one day out of the week to visit a network, Clickbooth.

I drove up 2 hours to Sarasota, FL to take a look at their office. I met up with Eric Schecter and he started to show me around. I first wanted to say what up to my AM, Brittany but her boyfriend was there and he insisted I take a pic with him…

My day 3 started off with going to the blog room to catch up on stats. I then ended up going to the keynote by Brian Clark. Some good points… one point he made was that the days of ppc are over… hmmm guess he hasn’t really worked with Google straight forward. But I find that comment hard to believe.

His keynote was more about content and how content creates the traffic, etc. He described content can be in any form, music, audio, video, etc. How content is portrayed drives the traffic and the demographics for your offer or site.

I just don’t think PPC will ever die.

So I started off to the blog room to write the post you read yesterday. After that, I went off to listen to the keynote by Dr. Robert Cialdini. His keynote was very informative and had a lot of good things to improve your business. The keynote was base off using words and the pschology of using scarcity, emotions, etc.

I really enjoyed the keynote and was also surprised at the stats he provided with his casee studies. It is definitely something I am going to implement and read on. I know words can affect someone’s emotion and decision but changing ONE word or flipping a statement can have a huge effect on conversions, especially in our industry.

Well anyways the meet market turned out to be a good venue. I talked to several new users on their services and I found one that was really interesting. I met up with a bunch of people and found new people as well. It was a best way to meetup with everyone in the industry. I actually enjoyed meeting a bunch of new people and readers.

As well as close friends in the industry.

With all of us being in one room I got to meet with most of the meetup202 organizers. This is huge because we get to understand what the other organizers do. It is interesting to see some common similarities and complaints. We all discussed upgrades and how to better grow our local community.

As you know I have had multiple IANteract Dinners during only Affiliate Summit. These IANteract Dinners has been quite a buzz over the past couple Affiliate Summit, which is something I wouldn’t expect since it is a private dinner that I have and a network sponsors.

But it has been quite a dinner that there are multiple requests to join even though it is a private dinner and is invite only. Thanks goes to Ryan and his team at Elite Clicks Media.

I have been doing Internet marketing for sometime now and if I would have known about having these two things when I first started out, it probably wouldn’t have cost me all of the mistakes that I have made over the years. I was not worried about creating a brand for myself at the time; I was just worried about making money. If you are just starting out with any sort of online business, I highly recommend that you get these two things in place before you do anything else.

The first item that you need is a personal blog. I cannot explain the true importance of branding yourself through a blog. Many bloggers don’t even realize the influence that they have on their current audiences. This is literally costing them thousands of dollars every day. Once you begin blogging and sharing your story across the Internet, people will begin to relate to your story and start to develop a relationship with you without actually even meeting you in person.
