Yesterday, I got back from Puerto Rico. I stayed a couple more days right after the Puerto Rico Meetup. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. Exploring and being adventurous just lifts me away from the daily marketing strategies I do. The last real nomadic vacation I took was when I went to Morocco back in 2009.

I just want to recap my vacation and share my insights and pictures that I took while I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Since I live in New Jersey, it has gotten cold and dark here. This mini break was a great way for me to relax, enjoy the sun, and get a bit darker for the winter time. When I landed in Puerto Rico, actually a second landing as the plane did a double jump then decided to fly back….. yea a bit sketchy.

Puerto Rico is an amazing place to be at with their beaches and women. I met up with the NJ Affiliate HangOut Group and we just traveled old San Juan, ATV through the rain forest, then Kayak at night. It was a good set of days with adventures and exploring. We also did the modern hangout at clubs and bars. The best part was definitely being a tourist and exploring as a non tourist.

Some pictures…

Traveling is one of the best part about having an online business. It allows me to work anywhere I want to and at any time. Even though I was on vacation, I did do some work. Relaxing on the beach, watching the waves crash while adjusting bids and looking over campaigns. Soon my goal is to get an affiliate house for 3 months and just plan a trip with other affiliates or online marketers who loves traveling. The other goal is to travel every other month.

Lately there is a lot of talk about SEO and the Panda – honestly, I have no clue what the SEO world is going on. It is probably one of the least topics I follow when it comes to internet marketing. As you know the beginning of this year, I attempted to do some SEO myself. I fell off it and now I have someone handling my SEO for me.

As I read the internet I find myself learning new things and challenging my brain. I needed it. I learned that bookmarking is important to SEO because it can you sites indexed quite rapidly and you do not even need a bunch of accounts, just 3-6. So I decided to create an auto bookmarking script with iMacros.

It took me a good half day to learn iMacros and understand it fully. For example, you do not want to click on a hard link – you want to open that link within the address bar. These small smart moves definitely stop me from re editing the script, which previously gave me errors.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Video done on iPhone

There are a lot of macro base submissions like Sick Submitter which I also used in the past. Since I only needed 3-6 social bookmarking sites, I created this macro just to challenge my brain a bit. The video will shows you…

Clearing out the Cache – just in case I am logged in

Closing all tabs

Opening the first bookmark site

logging in

entering the bookmark information from a data file

opening a new tab

closing the old tab

then opening the new bookmark site

It repeats this step several times, as SEO is tedious might as well create macros to do these tedious tasks. With Sick Submitter you can create these profiles within the system or purchase profiles from the Sick Submitter community. This small exercise was a great way to challenge my brain to do something new. I definitely like learning new things and enjoy a new challenge, so this was a good exercise and beneficial for any SEO efforts.

There are so many auto submitters out there, but creating something on your own is much more fun – I personally think anyways. It gives you the learning ability and challenges your brain. But off topic this video I found while learning iMacros is what inspired me to do iMacros. It auto creates accounts and then bookmarks.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Enjoy the video. Let me know what you think.

I arrived in California for Adtech this past Sunday. Monday I decided to skip adtech and go taste some wine and do the whole nappa valley tour with my buddy Kevin from XY7. I was joined by good friends I met in the past and in this industry as well. I was never a wine person really until now.

I met up with Kevin at his hotel to have some breakfast and did a catchup conversation and met up with James and other members of his team. I also met with my buddy Mike and his wife from ndemand affiliates as well. We had breakfast and relaxed until the Nappa Valley bus arrived.

The bus ride was about an hour or so, so I plugged my iphone into the dashboard and started putting up music to make the ride feel shorter. I just chatted with James, Kevin, and Mike, a long the way until we reached our first destination – Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. We simply got off the bus and was introduced to a gentlemen standing at the table ready to educate us on wine.

I am not really a wine person but I drank and tasted most of the white wine as well as the red. I learned a couple new things such as how to ask for more wine. You can’t say you want a refull or you want more, cause the guy just looks at you funny. Instead you have to say can I revisit that bottle of “wine name”.

After the introduction to the wine, I toured and walked the winery a bit with a buddy of mine, NJ. The place was fairly small, so it only took under 10 minutes to walk and look the whole place. The wine yard itself was HUGE! Anyway, one of the cellars had wine barrels, so I took a pic.

The next place we stopped was “forgot the name” but it was a bit smaller and had a smaller wine cellar but had a very distinct taste to some of their wines. This was my favorite winery just because the flavors was real intense and you ca taste the difference from wine to wine. I swear one wine tasted like lemon and jalapeño peppers, now that is distinct taste!

After the winery and having lunch at their winery, we headed to a small town which we just basically relaxed and hanged out. Most of us walked the small town (15 minute walk) and played pool at the local bar. The local town also had their own homemade fudge, which I got a block of and their own gelato as well. Even though the town was small, I had a good time just conversating with everyone that came on the tour.

I want to also thank Kevin for personally inviting me on this tour.

The other day I talked about Private CPV and how I downloaded it and started to grow my mini private cpv network. Since then I have taken the blog post down, due to the fact customers are not able to contact Ryan – owner of Private CPV. Since I had it, I wanted to share about the platform because I have been looking for such a system a while ago.

Ryan came up to me and told me about it and I was eager and eagerly downloaded the program. Very simple install and interface. Then when I wrote about it, I guess some of you bought the product. Then started having issues. Tried to get in contact with Ryan but no luck. I myself tried to help my readers to contact Ryan and I was unsuccessful myself.

The other day I got an email from Ryan stating he has been having issues and is currently working with current customers. To stop future purchases, I have took down the post. Prior to the post I had no issues with communication with Ryan. I myself had questions about the system and I got a prompt response.

It is a rarity to get a system to create your own mini PPV network. I hope Ryan is able to help his current customers and cater to future ones.

Past couple days I went and visited my buddy Jason Rubacky from Shareasale. I promised I would visit him back in the summer months but I just been so busy I ended up going this past week. Plus I went ahead and spoke at his local affiliate meetup in Chicago.

The first couple days was def a bit chilly but then the rest of the days were actually nice prob in the 50s to the 60s. Jason showed me around the city and I went shopping as well, which I really didn’t want to but I saw some nice clothing. Chicago is actually a nice city and I wouldn’t mind moving out there. The only factor is the fall/winter season wonder how cold it really can be in Chicago.

The best part about Chicago I can say is the city is clean and the food is amazing. I watch the travel channel or food channel and there is always a mention about Chicago something. I tried out their beef and deep dish and they were both filling and good. We went around and toured the park and most of the city highlights.

One day we took the time to head out of the city and head out to do some go kart racing. Now that is a rush in itself. There were professional go kart racers there with their own suites and boots taking the race real series. One interesting part is we bumped into Ian from LFM Network and he was surprise to see Jason and I at the track. What a coincidence.

There were 2 tracks and we did 3 races and by the second time I got use to the handling and came in 2nd in one of the tracks. One of the more complicated one I didn’t do so well, but it was def fun. The complicated track had mad sharp turns and s curves in it, didn’t do too well, but I didn’t crash.

That same day we headed out into the city and hit up a bar because I was starving and had a burger with an egg on it. Never really had an egg on a burger but it was an interesting combination flavor wise. We met up with other local affiliates and headed into town.

Howl at the Moon is where we headed into and there was a huge line. I assume it was 1 out 1 in type of deal. I was not going to wait in line, so I went to the front door and if any of my friends know me, they know the line I say to the door man. I wasn’t drunk enough so I just asked what will it take to skip and I simply paid the dude and walked in. I wave to the line with a smile and walked in with Rubacky and Chris.

The scene was interesting I have never been to a cougar hangout spot before. Granted I have seen older women in clubs but at Howl a the Moon there were quite a few. Since it was my first time to walk into a place filled with cougars, I just hung out at the sideline and drank the bucket we got, yes BUCKETs!

During the night, I ended up on the dance floor and I was being grabbed by all these older women, it was an awkward moment. These women are mad aggressive and know what they want. I literally was the only guy on the floor getting stripped of my clothing gear by at least 3 women at the same time. I tried to call for wingman support but I guess I was on my own.

off topic… I haven’t promoted a dating cougar offer and I know there are some out there, it is interesting to see how I can take my weird experience and put it in a marketing perspective. hmmmm

After 2 more buckets, we headed out to an other bar and met up with 2 more affiliates. We had a conversation with some females about jobs and marketing, I didn’t pay attention because they weren’t really meant to be paid attention to. By the end of the night me and Rubacky just headed back and called it a night.

.. the next day was just a day of relaxation and recovery.

The day next day after recovery it was more tourist ish for me. I wanted to head out to the Sears tower and up to the Sky Deck. I really just wanted to walk on the glass ledge and that I did.

It was damn serious but I got on the glass panel while many other tourist were skiddish to get on. I was doing flips, laying on my back, etc – it was fun and entertaining being that high. I think we had to turn our cell phones off being so high…

After I had my first deep dish pizza and that is filling after just one slice. I manage to finish 2 and it is an ‘eat and sleep’ type of meal, I think. Luckily after the deep dish I had some Effen Vodka and it got me up and ready for the Bulls game later. Jason and I relaxed for the day before headed out to the Chicago game.

It was the Chicago Bulls vs Denver Nuggets and we were in the theater box courtesy of ShareaSale. The food was amazing and I was sippin on Ciroc all night. We went out to the game with 2 other affiliates and just talk big business. We talked about the industry and where it is going and about these ‘Clickbank’ guys who apparently knows alot about marketing….

Good conversation, it is always great to talk to people with like minded ideas and thoughts about marketing in general.

The game overall was good, I actually enjoyed y time at the game and it was a close game! The night ended and I had to get ready for my leave out of Chicago the next day. It was def a great city I wouldn’t mind moving to. Almost New York but isn’t – I feel Chicago is much more cleaner and less more compact. I wonder how it is in the spring/summer time.

Overall video:

Want to thank Jason Rubacky and ShareaSale for the Chicago experience and showing me around an amazing city.

Today, I went to a local event at Rutgers University for employers. It was to help put insight on how to utilize colleges to use student services to find interns or employees for small business. The session was small only housed about 20 or less employers and gave an overview of how Rutgers specifically handles employers and students to work together.

Every employer was dressed in top notched business suites with watches and pinky rings. I wore just a button up, jeans, and some timberland boots (it was raining). Awkward. I forgot that it was a business gathering.

I left after 15 minutes.

The reason not because I was out of place but because I was more interested in utilizing interns than going through a government system which pays for tuition then I have to pay a certain percentage, then only provide certain hours, making sure they work on campus or provide transportation, etc, etc, etc.

I just wanted someone that can do certain tasks that I need done. Luckily a friend of mine recommended a friend of his to interview. I interviewed this fellow college student in his 3rd year and seems like a good fit. I am setting him up with the tools to start next week.

The most weird part about this whole thing was on a college campus, I haven’t been on a college campus in a long time – plus I didn’t think I was that prepared to interview this person. Most of my work is outsourced based on recommendations, paid services, or trial and error. Finding someone to do a small project to do online isn’t that hard. Even with my admin, which is local, she wasn’t that hard to really interview.

But for the specific task I interviewed the intern for, it was kinda of hard. The reason is because I actually didn’t know what I wanted. I knew what I wanted but putting it in an’ interview’ type of setting, not so much. I basically went straight to the point and stated I need this and this and this and this stuff done like so via this way and has to be like this which ends up there.

… definitely was not a good way to approach a student, I bet I scared him.

Knowingly enough he understood and even put his own input! NICE! So what is the purpose of this post? As I am growing my business, interviewing is an experience. So here are some tips on what you should do – in which I failed to do, but will make sure I do next time.

Know what you want, provide a job description and tasks to the intern.

What does your company do. Provide and introduce yourself and your company prior to tasks

Ask what they are looking for after and during the internship. paid or experience?

Ask for past school projects or work in relation to your project or tasks

What does the interviewee do for fun, don’t always talk about what YOU want.

Don’t act like you know, show your fault and why you want the intern to work and grow with you.

These are some of the things that came up to me after I interviewed this person. I kicked myself in the ass later on because I felt like I didn’t utilize his time well enough. In the end he is looking forward to work with my business and I hope I can give him the knowledge to expand.

Have you interviewed anyone for your business, what do you look for? What kind of questions do you ask? Are you professional about it? Do you keep it fun?

Before affiliate summit west 2010, I took a mini vacation to Orlando. It was my little nephew’s bday and I decided to just go visit him. Plus it was too cold in NJ that i needed some sun in my life. Well I traveled to Orlando and found out it was cold there too! But after 2 days it started to warm up.

I hanged out with my cousin and my little cousin while I was there. Definitely love my family. I enjoyed just relaxing and chillin with them. I did take one day out of the week to visit a network, Clickbooth.

I drove up 2 hours to Sarasota, FL to take a look at their office. I met up with Eric Schecter and he started to show me around. I first wanted to say what up to my AM, Brittany but her boyfriend was there and he insisted I take a pic with him…

After talking to Brittany I took the Flip and started walking around and video taping their current office. It was interesting to see everyone had gym lockers. It is also interesting to see that I only saw literally 10 people in their office. I met up with the CEO, really cool dude! Actually there is a lot of cool people there.

Well, here is a quick video of their office currently…

Click here to view the embedded video.

I said currently because later during the day I went to see the new office. They are growing so fast that they had to move into a new building/property. Now that building is big!

…rewind a little bit…

When I got to Sarasota, I tape their office and then me and Eric had lunch in Siesta Keys in Sarasota. The weather was really nice clear skies and light winds. Eric took me to a place called SKOBs, I had a nice Grouper fish because my little nephew recommended a grouper when I get to Sarasota. It was really good.

The interesting part is the fact the restaurant is covered in singles. I had to do a little video, wait to the end. I want to thank Eric for lunch.

We headed back to the office and we started prepping up for the tour of their NEW office! I thought we were going to go tour for 20 minutes and get out. I started seeing rope, bike, skateboards, frisbees, a camera, and all kind of crazy ish.

I was thinking WTF are we doing? I thought ehh maybe they are just packing ish. Later to find out I was about to be a star in the next Hollywood film produce by Clickbooth. It turned out to be a fun day though. I did an interview with Eric and then we just had fun in a huge open space of the new building.

Here is a snapshot of the new building from the outside, they have 2 of these buildings…

It was like being a kid and breaking in an abandoned house, but it was Clickbooth’s. After a full day of filming we headed back and Eric did an interview with me. We just chatted about the industry and my mistakes etc. At the end of the day we went out to go to dinner.

Brittany was getting jealous I was spending way too much time with Eric. So we three went out to dinner at some fancy restaurant. Felt kinda out of place cause everyone kept staring me down… not too sure why…

Anyways, we had a raw bar and then some fresh seafood. Amazing food. Apparently Eric didn’t know how to work the raw bar. Brittany and I was just laughing… The food was amazing and I out ate Clickbooth!

That night Eric took me out on the town to drink and have fun, apparently Eric got me on camera… dancing and ish. Well that will be on Youtube soon I guess. I met up with some ladies at the bar, four of them and we just danced and chilt. After that the bar we were at didn’t work out so we went to another bar where we met up with 2 more Clickbooth ladies.

From there the night was epic and just balled out.

Thanks to Eric, Brittany, and Clickbooth for having me and letting me have a sneak peak of their new office. I would post the video of the new office, just not sure if they would like me to disclose it. But they have some more pictures on their blog.

BTW expect a crazy video from Clickbooth… man how they tricked me… but it was fun!

Late last week I was in Florida to get away from this grazzy Jersey weather. Ryan from Elite Clicks Media has gotten in contact with me at Ad-Tech NY and followed up with me after. He mentioned he wanted to get me out to Florida to meetup with his team and his new partner, Kevin Harrington.

It was very last minute when it was planned, but I manage to fly out and meetup with Ryan and Greg at the Hilton. After a quick 2.5 hour flight from Jersey to Florida, we all went out. I left Jersey at 8pm and arrived in Florida a little after 10pm.

Once at the Hilton I got comfortable and Ryan told me we are going to go out. So I prep up and got ready to head out with Ryan. We went out to a lounge and met up with Greg.

The funny part is I knew Greg prior to him being with Elite Clicks Media. I was going to buy one of his info products and re-brand it as mine. His info product was really informative with a lot of good breakdowns of his strategies. But anyways…

We headed out till the place closed and I met one of Ryan’s good friends which owned the place and just treated me with great hospitality. We had a nice VIP section overseeing the whole place.

After the night we just headed back I was tired from the plane ride and pouring the weather. So the night ended real good. Thanks goes out to Greg and Ryan’s friend.

The next day we went out to check out Ryan’s new partners office and studio. While I was there they had a live videoing of one of the prospects from Shark Tank . He was one of the users who wasn’t broadcasted on television, but now his dream is realized.

After the live taping we went out to grab lunch.Ryan and I discussed the future of affiliate marketing and our industry. He shared his vision on what he wants to create and how he wants to reach his goals. Big props to going extra big.

After a good lunch we headed back to the studio and we met up with Tim Harrington, Kevin’s brother. I was brought in a room where all the infomercial products were located. There were a lot of products I recognized and new ones that look like can be a re-billable product.

It was amazing seeing all the products that have been on the as seen on tv space for many years and up and coming ones as well.

A big thanks to Ryan, Greg, and their whole Elite Clicks Media Team for inviting me to see their operations. Thanks!
