YouTube as a Promotional Tool?

The other day I bought a new webcam to start Video Marketing. This past weekend I have created my first video…AHHH! I will be posting it on YouTube later today. Well my curiosity is the concept of gathering thousands of traffic by just video marketing, or Youtube marketing.

YouTube has emerged has a new tool in viral marketing, but if you don’t know how to use it properly – the process may backfire, or simply slide your campaign into oblivion. It’s an emerging trend, and something that many companies are now looking to take advantage of. YouTube allows for user generated videos to include products, services, anything at all that will be seen by hundreds of thousands of users, that means thousands of traffic and targeted as well.

As fewer young people watch television and move toward the internet for their entertainment options, advertisers have the option of creating entertaining media spots to market their product – a kind of ‘unintentional-intentional’ advertising.

Here is a short video of Joel Comm answering a question from one of his readers.

Now I want to see if this concept is true. There are several factors that I am kind of scared ofsituations like:

  1. What will readers think of my appearance?
  2. Will they direct to my site right after?
  3. Will my speech be proper?
  4. How well will I be able to keep in sync?
  5. Will it kill my brand?
  6. etc

But this is a learning experience and I am willing to read the feedback others will input towards my video. If I get traffic then that is good to me, readers are getting the information they want and getting entertained at the same time.

Will my videos be a success? Well I waited for the beginning of the week because that is where I experience more traffic and since YouTube is traffic oriented already then there should be no hassle for me to filter out that traffic to my blog, this is good for all internet marketers.

For an internet marketer looking for more cost effective ways to generate traffic, the equation is very simple: user generated content + personal contextual reputation + community aided classification + profile based targeting = A cheap vehicle for creating a viral flow of traffic to your website.

Harnessing the power of Youtube’s gigantic traffic flow is creating and submitting viral videos, which I will try to attempt to do. So far I have studied or viewed the most videos seen for the month, checked who are the most favorite, what and watched the videos that were mos tviewed.

I want to see if I can match them, marketing or not. Most of the videos on YouTube are comical so I will try to attack it in that way, I mean I did take Improv classes in High School and took choreograph hip hop dance at college. I hope to impress everyone. Stay Tuned!
