You know keywords are important. They are very important because it is the only way that online marketers can know what one is interested in or looking for. But how do you find what is popular and what is in demand? There are so many sites out there that can help you with this. Sch sites as Yahoo Buzz, eBay Pulse, Amazon Popular Tags, etc. There are even sites that provide surveys and publicly post the results on their websites. These tools are great assets to what is in demand and what the market currently wants.
But filtering out through these websites can be a pain. Taking data from one source and then another can be a real pain. What if we can aggregate all these sites out there and pull the necessary data that we need? There is such a site out there and it is a very popular source of information and blog as well, SEOMoz.
SEOMoz is a great site which has a lot of popular SEO tools, one being their aggregated Popular Search Tool. This specific tool pulls popular keywords from Amazon, Delicious, Flickr, Technorati, etc. This is a great time saver. Now what?
Well, it has been a while since I made an excel video on keywords and manipulating data to give you what you want. I have went ahead and will show you how to dissect SEOMoz great tool and use it to your advantage. With all these keywords, how will you be able to filter through them? Excel is a great program or any excel program, you just want to manipulate the data so you can use it to your advantage.
In the video I will show you how to:
- Count how many characters are in the keyword
- Join Broken Keywords, once exported from SEOMoz
- Count How Many Words in the keywords
- Count How Many Times a Keyword is Repeated
There are so many other ways to manipulate the exported keywords from SEOMoz to use it for your advantage. These are just the basics of what you can do with excel and data that is exported. You can create a small VB program to run multiple requests and manipulate the data all you want. Now that you have found a faster way to research the popular market you ca now concentrate on other aspects of marketing.
The more you can use your time wisely the better you will be. Keyword researching to me was a pain and a hassle when I first started. Now that I found a tool which does half my work for me and the other half in excel; my keyword research is fairly done in a couple of minutes instead of hours. Make sure to visit SEOMoz to use their powerful Popular Search Tool.

Very interesting ideas. I have heard about SEOMoz before, but really didn’t look into it at all. I think that I will definitely use their services after seeing this post in all they can do for you. Thanks!
