In the beginning of the year I talked about utilizing a new PPV traffic source called Adoori. With a small budget I was able to get a ton of impressions and utilize the network for some good conversions. I am writing this post now as a full review to their CPM pop under traffic. Since I have used them in the past I have been getting a lot of emails and even questions at trade shows about their traffic.

Adoori focuses on pop under traffic, they are soon going to be focusing on pop up traffic as well. If you do not know what PPV (pay per view) or CPV (cost per view) is, it is simply pop up traffic. You are paying for the impressions and not on a per click basis. You can relate this to banner buys where you are typically paying for impressions. With pop under traffic you are also paying for pops which happens underneath the main browser and not over.

With some or contextual popup traffic you are usually popping above the browser. This quickly breaks the users reaction to the main site they were visiting and forces them to view your landing page or offer. This is why Adoori had made their traffic specifically underneath the browser. It does not force the user to view your page, but eases them into to. Though they are going to be coming out with pop over traffic, their main platform is still focused on pop under.

If the user is done browsing the website, they see your ad after they have closed their main browser. This doesn’t annoy the end user or forces them to take action right away, it simply eases them into your ad.

Benefits of Pop Under:

Not Intrusive, Less Annoyance

Not scrambling to close the popup

Continuous view of your offer or LP

With pop unders there are some great benefits over pop overs. With Adoori they make it even easier with their backend user interface. When I first created my campaign with them, it was literally very easy to use. I created a campaign, entered my link, chose my target, submit for approval. That was it. The backend is very simple to use and there are no distractions other than what you really need from reports to creating campaigns.

The only downside to their traffic is their targeting, you can target by area and not dig any deeper. If I have a home insurance offer landing page it may pop under a gain muscle website. The targeting only works with countries and categories.

My suggestion is to keep your offers broad. One trick I learned from my own experience is to make sure you have a really good tracking platform. I say this because you can actually know where the traffic is coming from and what sites they pop under. Understanding this will give you a better understanding of the demographics.

One other aspect I enjoyed about their platform is they have a default frequency cap of 24 hours. This means your campaign will not be shown to the same user more than once. There are times where you want to show it more than 1 and sometimes you want your ad to be targeted to that one person just once. Their are some ppv traffic sources out there where they do not have a frequency cap, Facebook Ads…. and some you will probably forget to set it up and your campaign will popup over a site or category more than 10 times. Which is bad.

I used Adoori in the past and it is a simple system and ad platform which can be used correctly. There are some verticals that do much better than others and some verticals, in my experience that do horrible. It is about finding that balance with any niche or traffic source.

Adoori is an upcoming contextual ad platform, check them out as they almost usually have monthly deals on traffic prices.

Starting the New Year right after I got back from the holidays, I decided to test a new type of contextual traffic, popunder traffic. Now this traffic source is considered PPV and is popular among marketers. Popunder traffic can work fairly well if you know how to properly use it to cater to the end user. Most PPV traffic are popover traffic and I have played with PopUnder once before.

What is PopUnder Traffic?

PPV is recognized as pop over traffic, but sometimes popunder works far better. The reason is you do not distract the end user from what they are doing. Once they close that main window they are introduce to your offer or landing page. It is less intrusive to the end user and the best part is if you are creative you can create a real good landing page.

During Affiliate Summit West 2011, I met up with Julianna from Adoori and we talked about the traffic a bit and gave her my thoughts and insights about it. Glad she was open ears about it and helped me gain a better ROI by letting me know some tips and tricks to do on her ad network.

I easily signed up, the only necessary fields were email, desired username, and password. You can sign up for Adoori here.

So I started by choosing an offer Julianna told me that would work best on their network. I chose an offer and then ran up the campaign. After it got approved I immediately saw traffic – just because I over bided everyone.

Just like any contextual network there is always a bidding system and with Adoori you just simply enter your highest bid price you are willing to page. Currently to deposit money you need to have a paypal account, I asked Julianna about this and she stated they will be accepting Credit Card payments early next year.

So let’s start with the actual advertising. Setting up a campaign was pretty easy, once set up it sit in a pending status. She told me that several verticals works well on their ad network such as gaming, gambling, freebies, electronics, online shopping, and traveling. So I chose a vertical from the options she provided to me.

So I just emailed Julianna and less than 24 hours I got my campaign approved. I ran traffic on their premium network because it sounded better than the standard traffic.

After getting my campaign approved, I just waited for the traffic to trickle in. It slowly came in and then burst of it started to flow in.

As you can see above, I only paid about $50 and received 13,511 impressions and several conversions. Some offers worked and some don’t with 13k impressions there is a lot of room to test and ofcourse seeing what offers work and don’t.

The only downside Adoori has among the rest of the contextual networks is the degree of targeting. With most PPV networks you can target by key phrase or URL. With Adoori it’s only by country. This has both downsides and its ups. The main reason why I think it is bad is because there is no control where your offer is popping up on.

The other aspect of their network is they have multiple regions in which you can advertise in and not just the US. They have UK traffic and Western Europe. For this specific campaign I targeted just the US demographics.

… but looking at your stats after the first 100 impressions – you can see where it is coming from and then adjusting base on the data you have gathered.

One unique thing is their frequency cap is default at 1/24. Meaning your ad is shown to the end user once every 24 hours. So this is important because it would have sucked if 13k impressions were only shown to 100 people. This tells me my impressions were unique, confirmed by my Prosper202 as well.

Adoori is an ad network and ad networks have their traffic and it is up to you to really test them. See how they work and see how it works for you and your offers or websites you are promoting. Understanding the traffic is the most important part, if you don’t then you are just promoting in the dark.

After some testing, not all offers will work on Adoori but some offers are very easily convertible on their network.

Want to test out Adoori pop-under system with their premium traffic packages? This is a good way for you to test their system and see how their system works for your offers. Just sign up and use their promo code: vp0111 when you setup a campaign.

Mid last week I got an email from Ryan at Bevo Media about an amazing new tool for PPV marketers. It is a spy view of PPV offers, niches, and targets. PPV traffic is still a popular traffic source and is a prominent traffic source, Bevo came out with a spy tool which can help marketers find targets for their offers as well as the ability to spy o their competition.

I decided to get this spy tool and see what it is about, I mean any spy tool which can give you leverage is powerful in itself. I logged into my Bevo Media account and activated the PPV Spy module. At first glance you are pretty much overwhelmed with the current popups it has recently captured.

It is pretty amazing the popups it has found and to see what others are promoting and where they are promoting is a goldmine in itself. The best part is you just hover over a popup and it will break it down into targets, niches, and offers.

It is interesting to see that it will give you the full range of targets for a specific popup. This means less research for you as a marketer because you can find out popular url targets. Bevo’s PPV Spy tool, is broken down into 3 parts: PopUps, Offers, Niches. You can search through hundreds of offers, niches, and popups to find the demanding targets.

The reason why I think this will be a great asset is because very little research is going to be done on your part. I just log into Bevo Media pick a niche or find the offer and find the listed targets. Once have them I simply just copy and paste into the PPV network.

Downside:

This will cause a huge bidding war depending on the ppv network users use.

The other aspect you can find is the type of landers being populated and used. You will see multiple landers multiple times, means it is a working lander. While I personally noticed that most direct linked to the offer, some niches actually use crafty designed landers. That is one aspect which gives you the benefit above others, seeing what works and what doesn’t. Obviously, you do not want to steal and just manipulate it to make it your own.

Having this tool is definitely worth having especially if you do not want to do too much research in the PPV space. Finding and testing urls and keywords can be time consuming. Let this PPV Spy tool do the work and just utilize the data it provides you. The most important factors why it is worth taking a look at is the type of offers being promoted on which targeted URLs. This alone cuts most of your work in half.

Watch this intro video below:

This is a module addon, just log into Bevo Media and you will see the PPV Spy tool in the upper right hand corner.

The bidding wars has started and sometimes you have to match or overbid a couple times a day.

Now that PPV is getting more and more popular, more PPV traffic networks are rising and Direct CPV is a popular one who is growing rapidly. SO fast they want to continue the growth by starting a contest! This contest has a lot of great prizes, ranging form a trip to Vegas to a Cadillac Escalade!

It is a fairly easy to enter this contest as well and use their new ppv traffic source. Before we get into the contest details, I want to give you some information about Direct CPV…

DirectCPV is a PPV network, similar to MediaTraffic they have a cleaner interface (I think) and easier navigation. There are specific menus and links for what type of target you are targeting. One of the better things that DirectCPV has is quick customer support. While I have 2 directs at MediaTraffic, it was hard to get to them when I needed when I first started.

DirectCPV is quick to your response even on the weekends!

One of the better benefits for users starting in PPV is the fact DirectCPV only requires just a $100 deposit where MediaTraffic requires a $200 minimal deposit. So this can help some users who are starting in the PPV world.

Contest Information

Starts February 1st to February 28th

$20 bonus is added to the already regular 5% referral commission earned monthly

Rewards are rewarded in the advertisers account balance.

Referrals can not be family

This is a very quick and simple contest. But I wouldn’t really just sign up with DirectCPV to sign up more people, but I would run traffic with them. They have a $100 deposit, and if you use promo code BC25N you will receive a $25 bonus to your advertisers account. So this is giving you more money to advertise, since traffic on DirectCPV is cheaper you get more traffic for your money!

With the growth of PPV users in the affiliate space, you end up with a bidding war with new users and veterans who want to just cancel you out. But you always have to be on the search for new traffic sources, if you do not test new traffic then you will not be able to find that hidden gem.

PPV use to be a hidden gem, I did PPV last year before everyone started to get into it heavy and how other marketers are exploiting it. So it is time to use a new traffi source with not much competition and has low cost for your spend. DirectCPV is coming up rapidly and the first users to use DirectCPV will benefit.

As you know I talk quite a bit about PPV traffic on this blog. So I decided to get the person that introduced me to PPV traffic more heavily on a webinar, Kris from Cashtactics. When I first invited him to one of my dinners, he specifically told me that he makes money just via PPV. I was amazed. Then I saw why.

So I got him on the webinar to talk about his recent product called Mass PPV Traffic. As you already know PPV traffic is becoming the new traffic source for selected marketers. It is cheap and there is a lot of traffic to be utilized. I mean more and more new PPV networks are springing up.

With todays webinar we discussed several things about PPV traffic, the PPV networks you should work with and how to utilize the traffic.

Kris is very experienced in PPV traffic and I talked to him about it before I even got into it. Good thing I invited him to my dinner and now we are good friends.

This isn’t just an ebook either, they have a tool that fins all the top sites that you can easily target via PPV. It makes doing work, no work. With PPV traffic rising into the new year, Kris has even included templates that are fitted for the PPV networks.

Since there are some restriction to template size, Kris provides you the perfect squeeze templates to utilize the full real estate. So this isnt just an ebook but a full tool to utilize. Mass PPV Traffic is a next gen traffic source, so get a basic understanding with Kris’s videos and tutorials to take advantage of this new traffic source.

I have been playing around with PPV lately and I am pleased with the traffic and conversion rates. I honestly wasted around $200 to test a bunch of offers to see what works and what doesn’t until I found a way to get positive conversions, currently 178%. (on one campaign, time stamp: 11/19/08 | 09:57am) It seems there are things on PPV which will work that will not work on PPC or even GCN. Trying to adjust the mindset of thinking PPC to a different source of traffic can be a bit difficult.

So I tested a bunch of offers from several networks, I even tested polls, landing pages, simple jump pages, etc. Right now it seems direct linking works the best and so I am sticking to that. Below is an image of what I went through in a weeks time. There are other PPV stats weeks prior that is just all red or red with a hint of green. But below is the past 7 days stats for just PPV, as you can see from the drop down.

You can see I started a new campaign and deaded another campaign on the 12th and the 13th. I started a couple new ones and slowly started receiving traffic. As days pass, conversions weren’t there but started to jump, not sure how exactly MediaTraffic’s system works. I was trying to talk to Basil at Ad-Tech but always seemed busy. Anyways, I started to see conversions on the 3rd day and was excited like hey PPV is working! So I optimize my campaigns a little and filtering out offers, tomorrow’s post on how.

I basically took a bunch of similar offers and weighted each one, then base on performance I gave priority to the ones that converted vs the ones that didn’t. So this was the best way to test and see what offer’s LP converted over the others. Since I was getting a ton of traffic at .015 cent each I figured a days worth of data is good enough to figure out what offer converted vs what didn’t.

I am now looking to expand into PPV and join other PPV networks to see performance, I just need to better understand PPV and how the network chooses its unique visits. This way I can get a better understanding and better target leads. But now since the traffic has been consistent and I been converting, I been converting even higher because of a unique script I have, which I want to give it to Prosper202 with any programmer out there that would like to implement it! Let me know!

But this script, which I will talk about and provide tomorrow is basically a weighted script which rotates offers. The thing with this script it doesn’t just rotate offers it actually rotates base on performance, which I enter manually – programmer and affiliates you see where I am going with this! So the script basically just checks who deserves the traffic and then up comes the offer. This way it tells me what offer does better than another, or what networks’ offer does better than another. More tomorrow…

But MediaTraffic has seemed to give me new views on PPV, just wished I am able to talk to my account rep or atleast respond to my emails. But I learned on my own to optimize so forget him, but still would like to have a chat on MediaTraffic’s system.

So there is a lot of talk about Pay Per View traffic. I went a head and did some test. I wanted to wait for Mark’s test on his bulk traffic, but he has been busy with other things. So I took matters into my own hands. I went ahead and bought bulk traffic or pop under traffic. I think this was a network and I kinda knew the basis of PPV. For example the term ‘junk’ traffic comes from networks, similar to banner exchanges or list building tier systems. The term PPV ‘good’ traffic is similar to PPC but in essences you bid on maybe sites or keywords base on meta tags of sites. <- (correct me if I am wrong)

So I decided to start with the traditional PPV bulk traffic. I bought 25,000 pop under traffic from this specific service. The service was ehh. I believe this service was part of several networks, in which I think I got crap traffic. No conversion out of 25k so called unique visitors.

To the left you will see my stats. This a 2 day screen shot that I took for 3 of my profitable digital products that I have. So far I have generated over 1k of hits but no conversions from this.

Now another interesting point with this study is that after the traffic ran out, the next couple days my traffic simple just dropped. There was no continuation of traffic from past users or even link posted anywhere else.

Now the funny part is in Digital Point Forum, a member did an in-depth study of bulk traffic. I have talked about him previously and he has created great scripts and products in the past, Jonathan Leger.

He did a study and his results were very interesting. His results were very similar to mine and goes into more depth than I do. I simply just talked about how I get all these so called unique hits but no conversion.

Well here are Jonathan Leger’s results. You can click on the service and it will give you a break down of how the traffic was organized. Very interesting and powerful information.

But this just showed that this type of traffic is trash. NOW true PPV where you bid on keyword relations or domains maybe a bit more powerful. I will be testing that soon. But these networks in which you join to exchange impressions are very poor. The reason for this is because the other person is also a marketer and knows he will not convert. Why do you think some network exchange systems do not work to its fullest.

What are your thoughts on the PPV and bulk traffic? Interesting to hear what you all have to say about it.
