The Internet’s First Reality Show

This morning, I usually do my research online to see what is new in the internet marketing world. I visit my bookmarks and today on ImNewsWatch.com I saw a very interesting category that I would like to share with you. Joel Comm is organizing an Internet Marketing Reality Show to find The Next Internet Millionaire. Very similar to a “So you think you can dance” or “American Idol”. This is very intriguing.

Starting today, Joel is on the lookout for the right joint venture partner for an upcoming project, and he is doing it via a reality web show!

This is very intriguing as we now are evolving into a media world or media type internet known as Web 2.0.

What is Web 2.0? It is something of a keyword among those who enjoy newer things. I will attempt to distill it into some bite-size chunks of information for you. Hopefully when you are through it will be clear that the answer to the question is simple !

The topic of Web 2.0 is literally churning on the web. What will the future hold for Web 2.0 as a whole?

Twitter.com, A relative newcomer to the Web 2.0 foray is starting something of a “cell-phone-myspace” type of service. You and your friends can be joined through the use of text messages, using Twitter.com. Twitter is using the Web 2.0 model in a very unique way, and one I like in particular because it is using mobile technology.

Web 2.0 will be fueled by mobile technology. If you have ever heard of “the mobile web”, then you no doubt have also heard of mobile browsers, smart handheld computers, and the like. As these devices become commonplace, other devices will also be joined to the web using the Web 2.0 model. What type ? Well, microwaves, refrigerators, fax machines and so forth. Web 2.0 will more than likely be called something different by the time all electronic items become connected to the ever growing World Wide Web.

More an evolution than revolution, Web 2.0 is not being touted as a complete replacement for the existing internet features; it’s more an extensive upgrade. Allowing users to communicate better with each other, Web 2.0 is seen as the next logical step in the internet, and allows far more user participation than just looking at web pages. Now you can link all your social network sites like Facebook and MySpace, and use them to promote your own music, ideas or products.

Web 2.0 is looking to strengthen the power that the normal, everyday web surfer has at their fingertips. Instead of just big business and corporate companies having access to the latest technology and resources, sites like eBay, craigslist, Skype and AdSense, to name just a few, are letting anybody and everybody use the power and ease of use of the internet to get any message they want across, or to buy and sell goods, or have a voice conversation between two computers. This is the true beauty of Web 2.0, and one of many reasons that people are getting excited.

What this means for the internet marketer is an ability to find a large amount of targeted people very easily. Using the “search” features it’s possible to narrow down a specific group of people you want to market to and set up shop. The capabilities of these websites take advantage of the newest internet technology using audio, video, and being able to track them as well making it invaluable in testing and fine tuning your campaigns. People respond well to audio and video on websites allowing you to filter them to your sales page or link the video directly to it.

Web 2.0 sites become, or will become, multi-billion dollar businesses. That’s right, BILLION. The buyout of YouTube by Google is a hint of what’s to come in this rapidly growing area of the internet. The sites are hugely popular and command so much traffic that missing an opportunity to market on them is becoming less and more mandatory. Marketers will huge lists in multiple niches will probably be immune to the changing of the internet because they can filter their lists to their foot holds in Web 2.0 sites and do just as well there. The new marketer really needs to step up and keep up with the changes or the world may change around them before they learn how to adapt to needed new ways of marketing.
