Site targeting can be helpful in multiple ways. Finding sites that use adsense sites to display your banners even media buys. Today I got a video of how to do some site targeting for almost anything but more specifically for PPV (pay per view). It is a pretty old tool and the service use to be super popular and has a lot of new ad ons since it was released
StumbleUpon is a site that is base on a voting system and the site with high votes gets the traffic. The neat thing about this is since StumbleUpon is base off votes, which helps you discover new sites, it is also a way for you to help expand your site targeting.
Sometimes I get stuck in trying to find new sites because quantcast or alexa will give me the super popular sites that are pretty relevant. But what if I just want to expand more and try to take advantage of other site traffic? Well SU is a great way for you to expand.
With SU, you give yourself categories. Once you have given yourself categories you just stumble and copy the URL and stumble again. It is that simple. The best part is the sub categories. Let say you are doing a weight loss niche and you ran out of the popular sites to target. Why not start targeting other sites that are pretty popular on the web which you may not think of?
SU has categories within categories which break down to a more specific topic. Health > Nutrition is one of the categories. Maybe you want to just find the most popular site that others view. Maybe it is a popular site among the nutritionist demographic. You do not know because you are not an expert.
SU helps you find new sites base on peoples preferences. This is great because you do not have to waste time researching sites, other people who are already interested are doing it for you.
Here is a video, of basically what I just said...
If I wanted to promote a niche on PPV base on a category or niche I am not familiar with then I would go to SU to find what people think maybe popular. This helps me expand my thinking and helps me see what people are voting on and off. Will it be beneficial to me, yes because these are sites people enjoy. With the power of social voting you can see what sites do better than others.
Traffic from these sites may also vary, which is a risk in itself. Though you have targeted the highly popular sites, you may wantt o target these smaller sites because they do get the traffic and can help with your views. But is it worth it to realyl go a head and target all these small sites?
I experience some sites do better than other sites. The reason I found is because some people stumble their own site and it gets caught up in the algorithm that it needs to be shown but not shown a big amount. It needs to make some impression to get some votes. So there are thing you need to look out for like are these sites worth it for PPV?
Well just do additional research, put it up in compete.com or alexa.com and see their trafifc. Maybe put it in quantcast to see their demographics etc. There is additional things to do as well after you get these sites, its the matter of expanding and taking the time to do a bit more research.
But this small tip should help you more with site targeting.
