Going to Ad-Tech 2008: San Francisco

By Ian Fernando

After my first real big convention meet up at Affiliate Summit West, I am more eager to go to more conventions and meet ups. I will be attending Ad-Tech 2008 in San Francisco next week. The following week is Web 2.0 Expo, which I will not be attending. I think Ad-Tech will be the last convention before Affiliate Summit East in Boston in which I will be attending.

So there will be a delay in posts - I will be posting when I arrive and once I am there. I will be doing the same thing that I did at affiliate summit west: post, twitter, pictures, and videos. I will definitely bring my cameras and make sure I have it in place - I do not want to buy another camera, just in case I forget again - ...knocks on wood...

I also have never been to San Francisco, so this will be a big experience for me. One of my cousins lives in Daly City; I may meet her as well. I will be there a day early to explore the surroundings or just take a nap after a long tired flight. I am more interested in meeting a lot of new people and networking, since Affiliate Summit proved to me conventions and meet ups is a very powerful aspect of marketing.

Ad-Tech is geared towards digital marketing. Straight from their website:

ad:tech is an interactive advertising and technology conference and exhibition. Worldwide shows blend keynote speakers, topic driven panels and workshops to provide attendees with the tools and techniques they need to compete in a changing world.

Ad-Tech Expo and Keynote are free if you register prior to April 15th, if you arrive you will have to pay $125, so register now. I know several other people that I have met from Affiliate Summit West will be attending Ad-Tech and I hope to meet them again; Wes Mahler, Ms. Danielle, Jonathan Volk and many others. I am also interested in meeting my account managers from the new affiliate networks I have recently joined.

Well this will be my checklist prior to Ad-Tech:

  • Pack luggage
  • Don't Forget Camera
  • Business Cards
  • Comfortable Clothes
  • Bring my MAC - I think it was easier compiling all the pictures when I get home.

To Do List When I am at Ad-Tech:

  • Meet up with people
  • Network and Learn
  • Go to KeyNote
  • Party and Stunt

Until then wait for some posts while I am in San Francisco and follow me on Twitter.
