Welcome to the new design of Ian Fernando [dot] com. There are still minor adjustments that I have to do but here is the new design. There are a lot of different aspects to this blog that makes it really unique. I wanted a new design that reflects me and my marketing, so I got a really unique design made for my liking and hopefully more interactive and fitting for you.
I have let this blog sit on this design for quite a while. Lately it has just been getting a bit battered up. Missing images, comment spam, and just issues with the design. It felt like this blog was getting really old over time, slowly collapsing on its own. So I wanted to get a new design to take care of the issues and ofcourse to start 2011 brand new!
In the coming days and maybe weeks, there will be some tweaking and adjusting. I want to make sure pasts are working well with the new design because this blog has a smaller column. I also decided to go with 3 columns because I think it is more fitting. In the pasts I was more of a fan for 3 column designs because it provided me with more real estate on the blog.
Here are some changes I did from my past blog to my new design:
- Comments are now controlled via Disqus to help combat comment spam.
- Videos will have a more unique post page, this will be active for future video posts.
- Slimmer design for readers with smaller screens
- Slick new Photo Page Design
- a more blog style homepage
- Created an Optin Box, finally.
- Uses the Genesis Framework.
- Hard coded a lot of plugins instead of having plugins.
This design was suppose to go live before Christmas and before New Years. I picked a local web company to turn my PSD design into HTML with the Genesis framework. It took them over a month to get it going, tsk tsk. We had meetings and calls about the design and I emphasized the Genesis framework, they said they were able to do it. Once provided the task, they weren't able to complete the tasks in the amount of time and weeks keep passing by. They stated it was their first time dealing with the framework!
When I came back from Vegas I asked a past partner to help me with the design. They were able to do it faster, cleaner, and in the time frame they stated.
Here are my past blog designs from when I first started blogging and making money online. Each design has some type of improvement. These designs are in order from my very first to my most recent. As you can see I have grown quite a bit from designs and blog posts. I mean my first blog wasn't even using WordPress until the third design.
Let me know what you think of the new design. Let me know what you like you do not like and what you missed from the old design.
