My Ad was Seen: Intro to Adwords

By Ian Fernando

Today, I saw one of my Google Adwords. It helps promote my blog. It is very rare to actually see your Google Adwords on websites or blogs, but I saw mine today! The screenshot is below. With that said, let's talk about the basics of Google Adwords.

What is Google Adwords

A Pay Per Click (PPC) program of advertising on Google. The ads appear on the right hand side of the Google Search page on keywords / key phrases that you choose.

Go to Google and search for something(no matter what). You will see two types results-natural and form Adwords. The main results are on the left side. Google think that these sites are good. These are the organic results.

Google has a GREAT tutorial on Google Adwords, giving you the basics and how to properly run it, view it here.

The simplicity of the Adwords advertising medium hides a world of complexity beneath it. For starters Adwords advertising campaigns have a completely different goal than most advertising. In conducting an Adwords advertising campaign, your goal is to entice people to click your advertisement, not to sell them something. To further complicate things, you must draw the right people to click on your ads, people who will be interested in your product or service, and anyone can promote!

Google Adwords Offer

Targeted reach
Now you can advertise to people searching on Google. Even if you already appear in Google's search results, AdWords can help you target new audiences on Google and our advertising network.

Greater control
You can edit your ads and adjust your budget until you get the results you want. You can also display a variety of ad formats and even target your ads to specific languages and geographic locations.

Measurable value
There's no minimum spending requirement or time commitment. And with the cost-per-click option, you're only charged if people click your ads. This means every dollar of your budget goes toward bringing new prospects to you.

Adwords, is a great way to get targeted traffic to any website or even promotions. A lot of affiliate marketers tend to use Adwords to direct users to ClickBank Products or Affiliate Links.

You should expect that the visitors of the web publishers to have an active interest on the product you have to offer because they are already searching for it. For this reason, you have a greater potential to make a sale. The Adwords system that is currently being used also actively seeks out search items that are related to the keywords you have selected. So this result to a win-win situation for both the advertiser and the potential client because your site will appear to people who want to buy product and service you offer. This also saves you from shelling out unnecessary marketing expenses. It also saves you time from looking for sites that have a large number of traffic from your targeted customers.

With the above said this may remind you of Adsense, targeted Ads. Well its only targeted because the publisher, chose the keywords or key phrases he would like to pay for. The difference between a keyword and a keyword phrase is with a normal keyword for example like 'work at home' you will probably spend a good amount of money because its popular, and gets an enormous amount of searches each month. Now if you used a more detailed keyword that might have more words in it like 'moms work at home full time job' might be a bit cheaper for the simple fact that its longer and its not as popular was the keyword work at home.

Affiliate marketers study keywords trends all the time and see what is cheap and popular at the same time.

I can say it is very hard to tackle and use Adwords to your advantage for affiliate marketing, while others have succes, I have had minimal return using Adwords. I have not stopped learning about the Ins and Outs of Adwords, because Adwords can be very powerful.

As difficult as it might be, Adwords advertising remains the most powerful advertising medium on the Internet today. Because of this, it is well worth the time and effort invested for any Internet marketer to learn the ins and outs of Adwords advertising. With the right knowledge, Adwords advertising can be highly profitable and rewarding.

With that basic intro to Adwords, here is a screenshot of my Adwords Ad, just click the image below.

You can see, my description is very similar to my website, but I am tackling my audience in a different way, by simply saying John Chow is a Failure. You do not see my name, just in my URL. This is a good tactic and topic for discussion for another day.
