I just realized I watch TV when I wake up. It isn't a bad thing but instead of watching the news, going to espn, watching cnn, or music channel - I find myself watching the paid programs. I am not sure how long I have been doing this but I just realize I watch pointless sales pitches on TV.
I also never bought anything form these infomercials or paid programs. I find it interesting the types of products that they are selling and how they are selling it. I find it relates to me in a way that I too also pitch and sell when I promote an affiliate offer or product. I personally found it interesting some of the strategies they use are used in the online space.
For example, testimonials are a big part of the paid programs as well as showing live examples of the product at work. This relates to what I promote because it proves to be a selling point.
I browse multiple channels looking at and watching the full paid program just to see how many times parts of the infomercial is being repeated. One big part I found was the flow of the infomercial, it is similar to a sales type landing page. They had timers and one time offer specials. Everything seemed to point out at me showing that all these strategies being used in the infomercial space are also being used in traditional online marketing.
It amazes me that marketing is the same everywhere you go and look. It isn't about the type of marketing you are in - affiliate marketing, info marketing, email marketing, etc. Marketing is marketing and strategies use to get the user to take action right away is being used in every type of marketing.
By watching some of these infomercials I found them to be interesting just because I like to see the structure they use. For example I was watching the Insanity infomercial and found most of it are stories, testimonials, proof of change, and the actual product in action. These were the main points that stuck out to me and were repetitive.
Since I have my own product as well, I can learn from these specific paid programs their marketing tactics and merge them to the online space. There isn't a big difference but a big similarity - it is just being used in a different type of marketing venue - the TV.
Do you watch the paid program channels when you have your cup of coffee in the morning?
