These days, many digital marketers enjoy the advantage of using automatic campaign management and optimization programs. However, in the past, this was a luxury that only super affiliates can afford to have access to.
Due to the increasing development in digital marketing technology, countless programs of this sort have now surfaced in the industry. While this new aspect of digital marketing spoils us with choice, it also gives us the homework of having to research and assess which automatic campaign and optimization programs can best bring us closer to our goals.
TheOptimizer is an online ad management platform that allows affiliate marketers or media buyers to automate their ad optimization. It will help with lowering losses across native, pop, redirect, push, and adult display traffic networks.
Here are some of the emails it sends me when rules are being executed. These rules run off a set time frame; 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc. So when it is executed and did a change theOptimizer will notify you.

In this article, we will be doing a review of theOptimizer to go through some of the major functionalities and features that this service brings to the table.
What Is TheOptimizer?
TheOptimizer is rule-based campaign management and optimization platform that lets you automatically activate or block publishers and ads. The platform can also change budgets or bids on your behalf depending on the settings that you prepared for a certain campaign. All you have to do is set the conditions and TheOptimizer will implement it for you.
Why Should You Use TheOptimizer?
- This automation software gives you plenty of time to work on your campaign’s content instead of having to manhandle everything.
- Scaling profitable campaigns into other traffic sources is easy since due to a wide variety of options with regards to traffic source integration
- It lets you automate your bidding strategy and do dayparting which lets you stay on top of the competition without having to compromise your traffic
- You will be able to use it without having to compromise the campaign setup that you already put in place
- Affiliate trackers and traffic sources are automatically matched
- Clicks, spend, and revenue are all accurately aggregated in one place
How To Connect To theOptimizer
After registering an account to either TheOptimizer Native, TheOptimizer, or xOptimizer, the first thing you need to do is to use the Account Wizard to connect traffic sources and track platforms.
The interface to this is very simple and straight forward, the wizard makes this a breeze especially.

Once you click on the account wizard it will flow through the necessary API attachments you need to do, so let's start. Choose a traffic source from the selection.
Note: You can only work with the networks they list as they have an API connection set in place with these networks. They are constantly adding and creating new sources all the time.

Enter your account nickname, timezone, the currency for traffic source account, email address, and password. Each network requires different details, some will require an API key while others just need your login information.
Don't worry, I was assured the information is used to connect to the network you want to connect.

Save the Traffic Source, Add a Tracker...
Now we need to connect a tracker. You do not need to connect a click tracker. You can actually skip this part but it gives you more rules and flexibility to optimize your campaigns
The more data theOptimizer has the better you can set auto-optimization for your campaigns.

Select a tracking platform and enter your details. Again this might be just a log in, but most of the time it will be an API key generated by the tracker. Here we will add Google Analytics.

You can also edit the tokens and theOptimizer will also let you know if you need to add specific tokens for their system to optimize campaigns.
It just does not work with Google Analytics, but popular trackers too. You will be able to choose the affiliate trackers from a drop-down menu such as Voluum or RedTrack.
In this last step, you will have to fill out a series of tracking tokens that are required for each traffic source. If ever one of them is missing, simply update your traffic source configuration in your traffic source tracker.
After the successful connection process, your campaigns will be all set in about 10 minutes.
Blocking Low ROI Ads And Publishers
Optimization in this sense means getting rid of existing widgets, publishers, sources, etc that can hurt the overall performance of your ad campaign. This is important because let say you received no conversions from one source, you might as well not send any more traffic to that source.
This is where the auto-optimization works, it is all base on a set of rules you set base on what your data outputs.
Using TheOptimizer, you can create a rule that enables the blocking of certain publishers and widgets based on their spend, ad CTR, and even EPC. There is a lot of conditions to choose from.
Below is an example of this rule:

Another attribute is to pause all underperforming ad creatives. These are the ads that you create within the campaign. If the ad ctr is low or there are no conversions after X amount of spend, then turn that ad off.
No point in spending money on an ad creative that is not converting. Here is an example of what a rule for blocking campaigns look like:
Changing Bids
Bidding strategies can differ from each traffic source. If you plan to run a native or adult campaign, you have a variety of bidding capabilities that can range from publisher level campaign level or even ad content level.
TheOptimizer handles these varieties of capabilities quite well. Its rule creation feature lets you streamline personalized bidding functionalities for each of the traffic sources that are applicable to your campaign.
You no longer have to manually change bids on each campaign. The auto-optimization rule will take care of everything for you. You can now increase bids on a widget or source performance basis.
The reason why you want to do this is stay competitive, if one source is generating revenue, feed it more cash so you can constantly win the bid BUT also make sure you are still profitable.
Creating such rules in theOptimizer will allow you achieve this.

In this example, based on the actual performance of a particular campaign, the auto-optimization rule will increase or decrease the bid every 20 minutes. This ensures that you get a minimum of 30% ROI on your conversion sections.
Google Analytics and AdSense Optimization
Finally, if you are doing any content arbitrage this theOptimizer will sync with your Google accounts to make sure you are earning. Google AdSense is an excellent way to monetize your blogs. However, just like a lot of digital marketing campaigns, it also takes up a lot of work.
Most publishers do not even bother with looking at their metrics because the earnings on Adsense can be too low. What if you can only advertise your Adsense sites on widgets that are profitable? Then theOptimizer can do that.
Having theOptimizer, enables you to auto-optimize your Google Analytics/Google AdSense campaigns based on metrics like ad clicks, revenue, earnings per click, and many more.
TheOptimizer Mobile
TheOptimizer Mobile is a second variant of the original technology but instead of focusing on a larger scale of digital marketing, its specialty revolves around Redirect, Pop, and Push Traffic.
You can connect it via API to traffic sources such as PopCash, Propeller Ads, Clickadu, Zeropark, PopAds, PlugRush, ExoClick, RTX Platform, and Hilltop Ads.
This is a wonderful tool that helps you automate optimizing these traffic sources to ensure that your campaigns are fast-moving.
TheOptimizer Mobile does not come with a free trial but you do get a 70% discount on your first month.
TheOptimizer Native
This variant of TheOptimizer specializes in native campaigns. The automatic campaign optimization process is based on flexible auto-optimization rules, accurate campaign analytics, smart lists, and many more.
Bulk Campaigns Creator
All four versions of TheOptimizer have similar features overall. This one, however, is only exclusive for TheOptimizer Native. This lets you set up campaigns a lot faster in comparison to going through each interface of your traffic sources.
Similar to other traffic types, native campaigns also require multiple bids depending on the devices that you are targeting.
The great thing about TheOptimizer Native’s Bulk Campaigns Creator is you only have to go through the creation process once throughout all of your targeted devices.
Easily interact with all the Native ad networks through theOptimizer making ad creation much easier and
Conclusion
As I have been using this for several months now, it has been a game-changer on how I operate my campaigns. I can set up the basic rules and then tweak how they operate.
This automated platform checks the campaigns every 10 minutes or hour, depending on the rule I set. Allowing me to create the campaign and let itself optimize itself. Every change is emailed to me and I get to check on in much less than I usually have to.
With the growing ad formats online, they are always creating and adding new networks and formats to their auto-optimization platform. As long as they keep up with the popular ad networks and formats, this is a tool you need.
TheOptimizer is definitely a tool that needs to be part of your arsenal. Especially if you are doing any sort of media buys.
