Unbounce Review: Is it the Best Landing Page Builder Out There?

By Ian Fernando

Ever since drag and drop builders became a thing, it completely changed the name of the game. In fact, today, you don’t even need to hire a developer to build your landing page for you because you can actually do it yourself. And it’s not that difficult at all.

Nowadays, there are a lot of tools that can help you create sophisticated, professional-looking, and well-optimized landing pages less the convoluted, mind-bending programming codes. (You might even be using one already!)

But that actually doesn’t end there, because these platforms keep on evolving with higher AI-powered technology that makes everything simple, fast, and easy.

One of the tools that I’ve been really into lately is Unbounce. If you search the internet, you’ll find numerous positive reviews from users and it’s all the buzz today so I thought it would be worth diving into.

But first, let me give you a brief recap into what a landing page is and why having an excellent landing page will work wonders for your business.

Recap: What is a Landing Page?

A landing page is literally a standalone page where your customers ‘land’ when they click on an email or ad from one of your marketing campaigns and it is created for a single purpose: to convert and generate sales.

In essence, landing pages are:

  • Laser-focused with one call-to-action and that is to increase conversion rates.
  • Built to match customers’ purchase intent.
  • Created to lower your cost-per-acquisition (CPA) and overall increase your ROI.

So these are exactly why landing pages should be taken seriously. But like what I’ve mentioned, you don’t need a programmer to do this for you. It isn’t really rocket science and it wouldn’t be if you have the right tools in your arsenal to make this easy and straightforward for you.

How is Unbounce a landing page tool?

Unbounce kicks things off by designing an all-in-one platform for landing pages. It’s a drag-and-drop builder that enables the user to effortlessly create and customize appealing and highly-functioning landing pages in less time and even without HTML expertise.

From picking your own background to changing the color of your CTA button, you can quickly add, change, or modify any element using Unbounce. Moreover, they also offer various templates that you can use and edit to fit your branding needs. With Unbounce, you can create landing pages, popups, and sticky bars.

So, what sets it apart then?

Aside from its user-friendly interface, it can also seamlessly integrate with analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics) and other marketing and email software tools.

But that’s not it.

What makes it a standout for me are these functions that I find truly unique and most definitely useful in any marketing campaign.

Extensive Freedom as a Drag and Drop Builder

Most, if not, all landing page tools available in the market today work with a block and column system. Although you’re used to utilizing a grid-like structure, you’ve probably never understood how powerful an actual 'drag-and-drop' builder is.

And by that I mean one that you can have the freedom to literally drag and drop any element across the page without the blocks and columns that are too restricting and are sometimes even frustrating to work with.

Dynamic Text Replacement

Dynamic Text Replacement (DTR) brings personalization to the next level by customizing the content of your Unbounce landing page to match visitor search queries, keyword parameters, and your PPC campaigns. DTR is truly innovative in the sense that it offers real-time solutions in increasing your conversions by directly impacting the relevance of your landing page to meet user intent.

Built-in A/B Testing

One solid feature that Unbounce offers as a landing page platform is that it has a built-in Split Test feature that enables you to test different versions of your landing page so you can easily change certain elements of your copy, compare these changes side-by-side and measure their impact to maximize their performance.

Unbounce has a relatively straightforward design; you can easily duplicate an existing variant of your page, create a new template or start from scratch. Modifying it is also quite simple as you can also edit it the same way you’d edit your form with their builder.

Most importantly, you can monitor and compare the number of visitors, views, and conversions in just one window.

Smart Traffic™

To be fair, I’m actually impressed with Smart Traffic™. It’s an AI-powered conversion tool that has the ability to direct visitors to landing pages which they would most likely prefer based on the user’s attributes. Pretty amazing stuff, right?

So, let’s just say that Smart Traffic™ works like a matchmaker. It automatically evaluates the data from the user and then sends that user to a variant of your page with the highest content relevance in hopes of a greater chance of converting that user into a paying customer.

Mobile-Optimized with AMP Landing Pages

With everybody’s eyes glued to their phones, I cannot stress enough how important it is to have AMP landing pages. Every year, the number of mobile users multiply, so it’s safe to assume that we’re more or less moving towards a mobile-first digital world.

Besides, AMP landing pages can cut down page loading times to an average of one second, that’s 85% less than the normal page loading time for standard mobile pages.

What’s actually even better is that you don’t even have to worry about the development side of creating AMP pages because again, you can leave all that to Unbounce. They actually provide AMP templates that you can use, customize, and even test like the rest of the forms built on their software.

However, do note though that AMP pages are only supported once you upgrade your plan to Accelerate and Scale.

Reporting and Analytics

While Unbounce provides insights and analytics to your landing page’s performance through its dashboard, you can further optimize it by linking your Unbounce account to your Google Analytics account.

You can set up conversion goals, track user actions, and keep tabs on your CTAs and conversion rates. If you have no idea yet on how to integrate your Google Analytics account to the Unbounce platform, they have generously provided complete documentation about it which you can access here

So, What’s the Verdict?

All things considered, I personally think it’s a solid platform to use for everything landing page-related. What’s not to love when you literally have all the tools inside the platform that will allow you to design, optimize, and evaluate your campaigns, right?

Unbounce as a software provider, I believe it was able to deliver a really simple and user-friendly interface especially for someone who’s just starting out although it would probably take a bit of time for you to get used to the dashboard and all its functionalities.

But all those things aside, it absolutely makes everything a thousand-fold easier for entrepreneurs and marketers who have zero knowledge of web development.
