After such an amazing conference at Affiliate World Asia, I am back at it and I want to share a theme that I use on my blog to push white hat affiliate offers.
I am not going to tell you the top affiliate themes to use, because it is impossible to test them all. That is why you do not listen to 'guru' posts that list themes that they never used.
As for me, I have written about this theme before and it's called the Newspaper theme by TagDiv. Yes, this is a WordPress theme meant for a full content site, specifically news.
But, it is such a versatile theme that it works perfectly for the affiliate offers that you promote on your blog.
More recently, I talk about building web properties and creating its brand. At the conference, everyone spoke about brand building and influencer traffic.
A blog is a great way to get into that space. If you do not know how to start your first affiliate blog, click here step by step.
The reason why I love the Newspaper Theme is because of its versatility. Just look at this blog's homepage, it doesn't look like a news-style website at all. I can create what I visually want it to be.
Now the reason why this is a great affiliate theme is that I can create custom posts to remove the sidebars and even the ads within the posts. Why would I want to do that?
Simple, I want to create a simple flow for the post only and not anything else. I want the user to concentrate on the information within the post itself. I do not want you to be distracted by the
I only want you to focus on the article at hand. We want to remove as
Look how clean this post is. No distractions.
Let Install the Perfect Template for your Affiliate Offers
- Download the Newspaper Theme here.
- Upload it to your WordPress website
- Activate the Newspaper Theme.
Next install Cloud Template from the Newspaper Plugins Tab:
Once that is done, you will see Cloud Templates on your sidebar. Click on Cloud Templates > All Templates. It will bring you to a post-style interface.
At the top of that page, you should see a button that says Add New. Clicking on that will open a pop-up box with a bunch of templates to choose from.
Go ahead and click on the Single link underneath the search bar. Or just type in template 21 in the search bar.
Once you find Template 21, go ahead and click on it and it will install the theme in your WordPress blog. That is it.
Now go create a new post. Generate your content and when you are done, scroll just below the editor and you will see Post Settings.
Go ahead and click on that and now your post will be a single column post once you publish your post. That is it.
It's pretty simple and now you can have a concentrated post without the sidebars and have the end-user only focus on the content you want them to see.
The best part is that you can adjust the text, colors, format, etc making your single-column post more unique.
In order to do this head back to your sidebar and click on Cloud Templates > All Templates
Find your Template 21 and click on EDIT, as if you are editing a post. Once that is done, do not edit anything in the editor box BUT click on the blue button that says TagDiv Composer.
This will bring up the TagDiv Composer where you can edit the theme in real-time. Here you can click on the sections or blocks of the theme and edit it in real-time.
Any changes you do within the side bare you can see the changes take effect immediately.
You can even add more unique sections to your template, like adding review style sections, ads, widgets, etc.
In the end, you want the focus of the user to read the content and not be distracted. With Newspaper being such a versatile theme, it is the perfect affiliate theme for new users.
