STM Bangkok Meetup: Creating Banging Relationships

By Ian Fernando

.... rushing this post .... at the airport. Excuse any typos.

I have been in Bangkok, Thailand for about 2 weeks now and I have had a great time here. I came out here for the STM (StackThatMoney) Meetup sponsored by F5 Ads. I have been to multiple meetups all over the world and within the states. They go from Adsimilis to Ads4Dough to Puerto Rico Meetups.

These meetups are amazing because they are fairly private and different from the traditional conferences which can be a bit much. These meetups puts you in a room with affiliates just like you from vast levels of marketing. As far as this specific meetup in comparison to the others I have been to, a big event for sure. I didn't expect a large amount of international affiliates flying out to Bangkok to listen to Mr. Green speak.

This just shows you that branding and online recognition definitely plays a huge role in the online world.

Anyways, this was a 3 day event. I went to only 2. The first day was just a day of 15 minute speeches by the owners and selected mastermind. Definitely all basic stuff from load time, to why live in Thailand, to Mobile in China.

After we basically went partying and discovered the city. Now I am not going to break this all down because the more important aspect of these meetups are the direct relationships you create with affiliates you have never met. I believe most of the affiliates are all asian base or non us base. This gave me the opportunity to meet many that do not even read my blog.

I also got to met many readers as well and I took them out on a night of fun. It isnt much of the content that I am so attracted to these meetups, it is the relationship I can create. If you remember back in the day, I started an NJ affiliate meetup in New Jersey because I wanted to acquaint myself with like minded people. Entrepreneurs who are already killing it and who can be my motivation. People who are starting out but have that hustle drive to keep me going.

It is about the attitude of the group and the person. The meetup is just basically my excuse to go overseas and meet people in our industry that either never goes to an affiliate conference like affiliate summit or an adtech, but rather just keep to themselves. These meetups are perfect for meeting people that are very like minded as me and that has the drive to make it in this industry.

One cool part... going off track is that Mr Green arranged a Muy Thai fight... which I thought was pretty cool video on instagram.

One draw back was basically the sessions and I told Lorenzo friend to friend how it was. One person I did not understand much just because of language and did not go in depth with what he was talking about. Anyways, I really didn't care much since I was there to network and put a forum name to a face. Lorenzo did a great job on this meetup and I can't not wait to see where the next place will be.

In fact, if you want to see where the next place they will be hosting the next meetup they have a vote that is currently happening. Go vote here. Have to be a STM Active Member. If you do not have a membership, you can find out the type of content they supply here.

This forum and its members are amazing so far. Again it was great meeting everyone and I definitely enjoyed Thailand a lot!
