There seems to be a misunderstanding of what affiliate marketing is and I want to clear this out. The reason for this post is because the industry that took me from my job is being frowned upon and being reworded in a way that I think is false.
Definition of Affiliate Marketing from Wikipedia:
Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate's own marketing efforts
Now, the general public and the online world thinks affiliate marketing is a one-way direction, buy ads and wait for conversions. Where is the performance in that?
A lot of people think that affiliate marketing is a 1-way road. You set up an ad, send traffic to that ad, get clicks from ad to offer, wait for conversions.
Yes, it may seem that way when you first start because all you read is Facebook ads to offer or to Shopify store then wait for the sale.
In reality, affiliate marketing is a building block to being one of the best marketers out there. This is why I only try to give out the building blocks of online marketing in my affiliate guide, not a step by step strategy because this industry rapidly changes. Step
But what is Affiliate Marketing 2.0, it is non-existent actually because it is one of the core building blocks when starting out as a marketer. You probably heard the money is in the list, this is what is being rebranded as Affiliate Marketing 2.0.
Let me show you the basics of it, a typical funnel:

This shows how Super Affiliate
Here is my own case study on email list building as an affiliate.
You capture the lead prior to the actual offer because you now have an asset. You now have your own traffic source you can now continuously email these users day to day.
The Benefit of Affiliate Marketing 2.0
When Facebook or Google decides to ban your account, you now have an asset or list to email to. Technically you have your own traffic source, allowing you to continuously make money while figuring out how to get more leads.
Meaning you won't have downtime.
So the easiest way to start is very simple. You just need an opt-in page, an ESP (email service provider), offers. Let break down the steps.
Get a Landing Page Generator
You need to get a landing page generator to create your opt-in page. If you do not want to get web hosting, then ClickFunnels is the one to use. You can check my review here.
ClickFunnels generates your opt-in page. Your lead gen page or opt-in page is important in this because it is what will capture your leads to your ESP.

The best part of using a service is that you do not need any hosting provider or a developer. You can easily use one of their templates and integrate your ESP.
All you have to do is create the copy on the page as to why someone would want to enter their email address and that is it. ClickFunnels provides all the technical and proving lead generation templates for you already.
Sign Up with an eMail Service Provider (ESP)
I personally use several and you can stick to one or several. I do several per niches as I partner with some copywriters and mailers.
These are the ESPs that I currently have used. There are other ESPs I use as well but these are what you can use to get started. Each one of these is great to start out with.
Some of these are also free especially if you are starting out. Once you reach a threshold of 100 or 1000 leads is when you start paying or on emails delivered. Both have their benefits.
Get Acquainted with Affiliate Networks
Now you need to sing up to an affiliate network because you need offers to promote. There are several affiliate networks to sign up with, you can checkout OfferVault or AffPaying to find offers and the networks they are associated with.
Here is my personal go-to list:
- TopOffers
- AdCombo
- GiddyUp
- W4
- Advidi
- Amazon/eBay
There are several other you can include as well like JVZoo, ClickBank, CJ, ShareaSale, etc. You just need to make sure you have a supply of offers to send to your leads.
Make sure you treat
Treat them right and send them gifts especially if you are generating strong revenue with them.
Learn to Write Copy or Partner with One

Writing is one thing I am not that good at. I mean you guys even send me emails and Facebook messages on how to correct my blog posts. I thank you for that but I am not the best writer out there.
So for some email campaigns, I partner with a copywriter. They write the copy and I just copy and paste into the email and add it to the autoresponder.
You will need to learn to write ad copy as well, so learning how to write copy is important. Writing ad copy is far easier for me cause it just short bursts of a copy.
Here is a list of courses that can help you with writing ad copy and email copy. There is a lot of information to write copy, you have to invest in yourself.
Put it all together and Generate Revenue
That is really it when it comes to listing building... erg, affiliate marketing 2.0. You do not need a website because you are using a lead gen platform that is hosting the 1-page site to capture leads.
Now all you have to do is start an ad on Facebook or Google and generate traffic to your
This is a very simple concept. Affiliate marketing is not a one-way streak. There are bloggers that make money off affiliate marketing because they generate an audience, content, Youtube, etc.
Look at social media, most are sponsored ads with affiliate commission, look at amazon affiliates doing Youtube reviews, look at info-marketers creating ebooks with affiliate links in them. Versatility is what affiliates are, performance
Affiliate marketing is a versatile means of marketing. At the end of the day, marketing is marketing.
Affiliate marketing is not a one-way street, it is the performance in each affiliate that makes them the best marketer they are, that creativity.
A one-way street affiliate is just a one-trick pony. Leave comments or message me with any questions on affiliate marketing 2.0.
