Recently I got Lasek Surgery done and let me tell you it is the best decision I made. The only problem is the recovery, it sucks. The rewards is def amazing and perfect. I can see clearly with out the hassle of contacts and glasses. I have vision!!!
I personally will miss the fashion styles of glasses, I own 5 frames base on occasions! I have wanted to do lasek for a while now but was definitely cautious since my eye are a damn important part of my everyday life. I did a lot of research and found that I wanted to do Lasek, which is a no flap surgery but longer recovery time.
What is Lasek..
In LASEK eye surgery, a microkeratome, a blade used to make an incision in the cornea, is not used to create a flap like it is in LASIK surgery. Instead, the outer layer of the cornea is lifted -- after a finer blade called a trephine is used -- and then loosened with a 20% alcohol solution. A laser is then used to reshape the remaining surface of the cornea.
I wanted to do Lasek because just a thought of a cut and a flap to be lifted just sounded awkward, what if I blink to hard, the flap can actually rip. Lasek is def more of a longer recovery time. The surgery itself was quick. I think it was about 20 seconds an eye, because I heard a person the back counting... 20, 15, 10, 5, end - they were stating in the background. Here is me after the surgery by Doctor Rand. Quick fast surgery and I was able to see, no more blurr!!!
I got home and my eyes were just tired. I just went to sleep basically. The second day is the worst, the most painful day and most irritating day for me. All I can do was basically, sleep all day. It was hard for me to shower - since I didn't want to get any water in my eyes. I was able to see and drive. My eyes were just sensitive to light, very very very sensitive.
Imagine a torn contact just in your eye all day with the back of the eye in pain. Yes you can feel the back of your eye in pain.
My post exam shows it started healing the right way. They gave me some powerful anesthesia drops and it calmed my pain for a good couple hours. My eyes were still tired and all I did was sleep.
By the 4th day I was feeling much better, my eyes felt amazing and everyday it gets clearer and clearer. I had bandage contacts in to help with the healing and after 1 week they removed one of the contacts while the other eye the contact had to be replaced. It was removed a week later.
I love my new vision. I want to personally thank Doctor Rand and the Rand Eye Institute for making my vision clear. This was one of the best investments, decisions I have made. No more hassles and I can see as I was meant to be. I am excited for my vision and the full recovery to be done. It has been 2 weeks since the surgery and it is just an amazing feeling. I can't wait for my full vision to be at its best.
