First Sales on eBay for the New Year. Might be Easier than Affiliate Marketing?

By Ian Fernando

This year I am experimenting with my old roots. I want to try to get back into eBay then slowly evolve into Amazon FBA. If you know my roots, I started in the online space via eBay.

My eBay history started with me just selling stuff that I didn't need. Then with my job at that time, I started buying things at the flea market. After, I started buying in bulk via Alibaba at that time.

No AliExpress when I first started on eBay.

So now I want to try to get back into eBay. My reason is to learn the space a bit and merge to Amazon FBA. I want to add this to my online portfolio. With the state of affiliate marketing being up and down, I want to have something that can buffer the down times in the industry.

So let us take a look at what I did from the last time I posted about eBay.

In just 2 weeks, I made $177.43 but I also just started selling items that I had in the past. I enjoyed fashion a lot and I enjoyed collecting sneakers as well, so I have a really good collection.

I posted these on eBay and they sell. So now I want to just sell everything I had since I now live a minimalist lifestyle. The biggest issue I am currently having is understanding the shipping.

With Amazon Prime, machines are determining what the best box to use for the end users order and most likely are pre-weighted.

Me I am trying to figure out the box type, then weight it then gotta go to the post office and make sure it legit. I am trying to just get to a point to either just drop it off with the post office now.

Now, is this easier than affiliate marketing? I first started with eBay and I want to say yes but there is definitely more work involved.

Listing an item is time consuming, taking really good pictures is a talent I am trying to learn now, packaging and shipping is also something I am learning.

There is definitely more manual labor with eBay than just loading up a campaign, but you can pretty much make a profit right away by simply selling things around your house.

I am simply just getting rid of items that I really do not need. Anything that is laying around the house from old headphones to again the clothes that I pride myself in.

eBay already has the traffic of buyers so all you have to do is a post and see your item get sold. There is definitely more competition on eBay as well, just like any business you start.

I am figuring out what keywords are more important to use and if descriptions really matter, especially for shoes.

This will be an interesting venture because I want to finish selling what I have laying around the house and start to source products, which then I want to start learning the Amazon FBA side.
